Translators play essential role in developing of science, culture, art, technology, policy of any society. By translation people will inform of the sorrow and happiness of the other people and share with them. Now, I want to pay attention to the criteria of the good translation and how we can good and fluent translation. In the following I will list some of the significant criteria of translating well.

1. The type of the text

Translating of text depend on the type of text whether is scientific or literary or … because in translating of every text we have some restrictions and rules.

2. The norms

Sometimes the norms of any society can influence the translation. It is the efficiency of any translators to apply these norms at the service of the translating.

3. The audience

In fact, whether a translation is good or not depend on the understanding, comprehending and readability of the translated text by audiences.

4. Censorship

Censorship in translation sometimes can end in loss of the some information that can help to better understanding of translation.

5. Translator

The geographical area, knowledge, culture, bias, taste and gender of translators in translating of the text can be determiner.

6. Religion

Religion is another factor which can restrict a translator in translating of religious text.

7. Political statues

Translators sometimes according to the press of political matter have to ignore and delete some of the information which is undesirable for the politicians. In fact, translators in this situation have to be cautious because they will encounter some restrictions and dangers in their daily life.

8. Translation group

A translated text can be more simple and fluent by using more translators in translation affair. In this translation the translated text will be reviewed from the structures, choosing better equivalence and fluency of the text by different translators.

9. Theories of translation

Theories of translating which are presented by different theoretician can influence the translation and to develop the manner of translating by the translators.

11. Place of translation

Translating a text in a quiet and neat place is better than in the noisy and dirty place. You can test it.

12. Time of translation

A good translator after 90 minutes translating should at least put aside translating for15 minutes and then start translation. Continuous translation will result in a influent and unremarkable translation. In fact translator should take a deep breath and rest until his or her mind be ready for the next part of translation. Usually continuous translation will decrease the choice of appropriate equivalence because of the tiredness of the brain.

13. Reading text 2 times

In the first reading translators will get the general content of the text and in the second which is the deep reading the translator can think about the finding appropriate equivalence for the words of the text and also find the coherence and cohesion of the text and be familiar of the style of the author in writing of the text.

14. Unit of translation

The unit of translation should be paragraph. Because by reading a paragraph instead of sentence a translator can get more accurate content of the text and acquire the general meaning of the text than a sentence. This method will result in a good, beautiful, readable and aesthetics translation. I suggest try this method.

15. Experience

A good translation needs a translator who translated more and more text. Because in every translation you will acquire valuable experiences about finding the appropriate equivalence, style of the text, structure of the text and so on which end in a good translation.

Hervey and Higgins (1995 p.75) believe that the principle that a translation should have an equivalence relationship with the source language text is problematic. For supporting their idea, they say that there are three main reasons that an exact equivalence or effect is difficult to achieve. Firstly, it is impossible for a text to have constant interpretations even for the same person on two occasions. According to them before one could objectively assess textual effects, one would need to have referred to a rather detailed and exact theory of psychological effect, a theory capable, among other things, of giving an account of the aesthetic sensations that are often important in response to a text. Secondly, translation is a matter of subjective interpretation of translators of the source language text. Thus, producing an objective effect on the target text readers, which is the same as that on the source text readers is an unrealistic expectation. Thirdly, it may not be possible for translators to determine how audiences respond to the source text when it was first produced.

10. Critics

Critical point of view to translation about translating text such as about the choosing of word, appropriate metaphor, fluency of the text and so on can help translators to have good and beautiful translation.

In the end dear translators and those who want to translate well I will suggest to follow my theory of good translating of the text. Every translator should know that the translation is relative term and translation is not absolutely perfect. A translator should have eager and interest in translating. In translating, you should have self-confidence and brevity. For getting more information about the translation you can refer to my article with the title of “the new category of translation” which you can access to new theory of translation which is presented on that article.
